The Cellar

Luka
"It needed work. The humidity was wrong for the servers, the acoustics were wrong for recording, and the wiring was a fire hazard. I spent the first three weekends fixing things nobody else noticed were broken. I don't regret any of it. It's the only place I've ever felt like I was building something that mattered."

Victoria
"The kitchen is the size of a large cupboard. I cook in it every Saturday. I don't know why I find that comforting. Maybe because it's the one corner of the cellar where I'm in charge of something. The rest of the space belongs to the music. The kitchen belongs to me."

Victor
"I've slept here more times than I can count. The couch is terrible. The light is always the same — it doesn't matter what time it is outside. I think that's why I write better here. Time doesn't work the same way underground."

Kira
"It smelled like mold and old cables and something I couldn't identify when I first walked in. I stayed anyway. I've been trying to figure out why ever since. I think it's because the place already looked like it had survived something. I respect that in a building."

saturday — kira's cousins
Kira's cousins arrived on a friday night with two bags and no warning. By saturday afternoon they were in the cellar. By saturday evening they were singing. We recorded it. That recording became Millió Dal. Nobody planned any of this.

The Altar of Dead Cellos

Kira
"People keep calling it sad. It's not sad. They fought. They gave everything. The first one went down at a show in London — honestly a heroic death, very dramatic, the audience gasped. The second one just... fell. Which is embarrassing for both of us and we don't talk about it. The third — look, the third knew what it signed up for. They're all up on that wall because they deserve to be up on that wall. I visit them every time I come in. I don't say anything out loud. I'm not insane. I just nod."

The Machine Cathedral

One full wall of servers, switches, audio interfaces. Kira named it. Luka pretended to be annoyed. The label on the rack has never been changed.

The Kitchenette

One burner. One shelf. A drawer that doesn't close. Victoria cooks here every Saturday. The others stay out of her way. Nobody asked them to.

The Couch

Objectively terrible. The left cushion has a spring that's been threatening to come through for eight months. Victor sleeps on it anyway, more nights than he sleeps at home.
